Outrage in Kebbi as Customs operatives allegedly kill motor dealer

Kebbi Chapter of Motor Dealers Association Condemns Member’s Shooting by Customs Officials
The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Kebbi State Chapter, has condemned the shooting of member Tukur Alhaji Salihu by operatives from the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Zone B, based in Kaduna.
Salihu was reportedly shot on February 7, 2026, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. along the Nagari College–Illela Yari route in Birnin Kebbi. According to AMDON’s statement, which was signed by Secretary Shehu Yusuf Bunza, the incident has raised concerns about extrajudicial killings and human rights violations.
The association noted that the shooting occurred during daylight hours, instilling fear among its members and local residents. AMDON has called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to investigate the incident, urging accountability for those involved.
In its statement, AMDON also requested intervention from the Kebbi State Government and called for an investigation into the shooting by the Nigeria Customs Service. Salihu was reportedly a passenger at the time he was shot multiple times; he died later that evening at a local hospital and was buried in his hometown of Argungu.
He is survived by his parents, two wives, and seven children. AMDON has stated that it has reported the matter to the appropriate authorities and has called on the community to remain calm and law-abiding. The association has urged human rights organizations to monitor the case and ensure accountability. Additionally, it appealed for support from the Kebbi State Government for Salihu’s family.
