Oyo Police arrest three over possession of human parts, armed robbery

Three Suspects Arrested in Oyo State for Human Parts Possession and Armed Robbery

OYO STATE, Nigeria — Authorities in Oyo State have apprehended three individuals linked to the illegal possession of human parts and armed robbery.

The Oyo State Police Command announced the arrests in a statement released by Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade on Saturday. One suspect was taken into custody for possessing what is believed to be human remains, while the other two were arrested on charges of armed robbery.

According to Ayanlade, the suspects were seized in Oyo and Ibadan and are currently being held at a police facility. Their arrests followed credible information regarding their illicit activities.

Garuba Aminu, aged 20, was arrested on February 20, 2026, at approximately 8 a.m. in the commercial Oroki area of Oyo while posing as a scavenger. Community members became suspicious of his behavior and alerted the police.

A police patrol team, in collaboration with additional security personnel, responded to the scene where a crowd had gathered, reportedly intent on confronting Aminu. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further examination of the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

Simultaneously, two other suspects, Elijah Teejay, 21, and Ottu Emmanuel, 33, were detained in the Elebu area of Ibadan. A check of their belongings yielded two toy pistols and a quantity of illegal drugs, all of which were secured as evidence.

Ayanlade stated that the prompt response by officers helped prevent a potential escalation of crime in the area. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to conducting multiple robberies along Elebu-Oja, off the Alao-Akala Expressway, and other sites within and outside of Oyo State.

The police continue to encourage the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
