Oyo State Police Arrest Two for Diesel Theft
The Oyo State Police Command reported the arrest of two individuals in connection with the theft of diesel in Ibadan.
Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade issued a statement on Friday evening detailing the incident. According to the report, the suspects were apprehended while allegedly siphoning diesel from a mixer truck at Kopek Construction Company.
The arrested individuals are identified as 43-year-old Yusuf Mutiyat and 64-year-old Ogunniyan Rasheed. Ayanlade stated that police operatives acted on credible intelligence, supported by public cooperation, to intercept the suspects.
Following their arrest, authorities conducted searches that resulted in the recovery of various items believed to have been stolen, including 24 barrels, each containing 240 liters of liquid, suspected to be diesel. The estimated total value of the recovered items is approximately N12,000,000.
Police continue to investigate the matter as they pursue further leads related to the case.
