Oyo Police Arrest Three Suspected Kidnappers, Seize Firearms
The Oyo State Police have apprehended three individuals linked to the kidnapping of a woman.
In a statement released Wednesday in Ibadan, Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade reported that the arrests followed actionable intelligence and collaboration with other security agencies. The suspects were taken into custody in Komu village, located in the Oke Ogun area.
According to Ayanlade, the main suspect, 22-year-old Aliu Umaru of Komu Village, was already on the police’s wanted list for a prior kidnapping case involving 25-year-old Huseinat Abubakar from Gelede Camp.
Further investigation revealed that Umaru confessed to his involvement and led law enforcement to two additional suspects: 60-year-old Gure Wadi and 35-year-old Ibrahim Yobo, both also from Komu Village.
A subsequent search of one suspect’s residence resulted in the recovery of a single-barrel gun and a dane gun, believed to have been used in the kidnapping.
