Plateau: Patience, silence not weakness – Rev Dachomo

Tensions Rise in Plateau State; Cleric Calls for Patience
BARKIN LADI, Plateau State — In light of increasing tensions in the region, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), emphasized the importance of patience and silence during a recent address to troops of Operation Safe Haven and local protesters.
Speaking on the rising unrest in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Rev. Dachomo argued that the peaceful demeanor exhibited by the community should not be interpreted as weakness. He expressed a desire for peace amid the ongoing conflict.
The cleric highlighted his previous efforts to foster dialogue, recounting his appeal for calm before a National Assembly committee assembled to address the crisis in Plateau State. He noted his attempts to console Fulani families who lost three members in an attack attributed to suspected militia, prior to the recent escalation.
“Silence is not weakness. Patience is not weakness. We want peace,” Rev. Dachomo stated. He added that he had actively sought to offer condolences to the affected families, noting that he faced challenges in reaching out to them due to the prevailing tensions at the time.
