Police and vigilante arrest suspected bandits

The Zamfara State Police Command in collaboration with a vigilante group otherwise known as Askarawa, have arrested a suspected bandits’ informant, Bashir Bature Kaura.

According to security analyst and counter insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the suspect allegedly coordinated the attack and kidnapping of residents in Kaura and Gusau, the Zamafara state capital.

Jamilu, who lives in the midst of the residents, was working with Dogo Idi, a notorious bandit kingpin to coordinate attacks in his community.

The suspect allegedly coordinated the recent kidnapping of the manager of TAJ Bank, Mansur Kaura.

“The arrest of the informer point to the fact that banditry and terrorism had persisted due to the support they are getting from locals and faceless informants,” Zagazola added.
