The police on Monday, December 30, arraigned two men in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ court over alleged attempted m8rder of an aide to Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
The accused persons are, Egunlae Ademola, 52, and Oluwafemi Ajayi, 65.
The accused persons, whose house addresses were not provided, are being tried on charges of conspiracy, threatening violence with an offensive weapon and attempt to murder Hon. Talabi Odunayo Arinka.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on 22nd of December, 2024 at about 8:30pm.
He informed the court that there is probable cause to order the remand of Egunlae Ademola and Oluwafemi Ajayi in correctional custody, who are reasonably suspected of having committed the aforementioned offences.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 421, 46 and 241 (a) & (b) of the Criminal Law Ekiti State 2021.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until February 14th 2025, for a hearing.
