Police Arrest 10 Suspected Kidnappers in Ondo State
Ondo State, Nigeria — Nigerian police have apprehended 10 individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities. The arrests took place in Ondo State, where authorities also recovered ransom money from the suspects.
The accused have been identified as Mustapha Adamu, 20; Muritala Muhammed, 22; Usman Ibrahim, 25; Asiru Abdulasi, 20; Abduliu Sanni, 22; Ibrahim Suraju, 20; Noah Isiaku, 20; Amisu Aruna, 28; Abdulahi Suraju, 20; and Arabi Hamet, 18. The arrests were made by the Anti-Kidnapping Section of the police command, with support from personnel dispatched by outgoing Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh stated that the operatives apprehended the suspects in hideouts along Ondo Road after receiving credible intelligence. In addition to the ransom money, the operatives seized the syndicate’s operational motorcycle.
Jimoh noted that some of the recovered cash included burnt currency notes, which are being documented as part of an ongoing investigation.
“The suspects have provided valuable confessional statements regarding their roles within the syndicate,” Jimoh said. “Relevant exhibits have been collected and are currently under review for further investigation and necessary action.”
The Ondo State Police Command is actively working to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and hopes to identify and apprehend any remaining accomplices.
