Police arrest 13 for alleged cultism in Lagos

The command’s spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, stated in a press assertion on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 that authorities is not going to tolerate the actions of cultists and hoodlums threatening the peace and safety of Lagosians.

He stated 4 suspects have been arrested on November eight for alleged involvement in a cult rampage within the Mushin space of the state.

20-year-old Popoola Michael, and Daniel Adome, Kayode Thomson, and Taiwo Okiki, all 18, are accused of being members of Omo Kasari Confraternity.

One other group of suspects have been arrested on November 9 in connection to latest cult-related actions within the Ikorodu space of the state.

21-year-old Segun James; Agbelusi Sunday, and Kareem Ishola, each 20; 19-year-old Opeyemi Oderinde; Olasojo Gbolahan, and Ayodele Olasukanmi, each 18, have been arrested by a particular operational group.

Otubu Samson, and Kayode Agoro, each 17; and 16-year-old Otako Jeremiah have been additionally arrested with the group and accused of being members of Aiye Confraternity.

“Gadgets recovered from the suspects contains domestically made weapons, reside cartridges, axes, cutlasses, charms and another offensive weapons,” the assertion famous.

Adejobi stated the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has concluded plans to work carefully with the Lagos State Ministry of Justice to make sure speedy trials of the suspects as a part of the command’s Operation Say No To Cultism marketing campaign.

For years, Lagos has struggled with the menace of cultism particularly amongst youths.
