25-Year-Old Man Arrested in Edo State for Alleged Firearm Possession
A 25-year-old man from Bauchi State, identified as Umar Abdullahi, was arrested early Wednesday morning by the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) for allegedly possessing firearms.
The arrest occurred around 2 a.m. at Akara Junction in the Aduwawa area of the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area. Richard Balogun, the Corps Deputy Commander for Operations, confirmed the details of the arrest to reporters.
Balogun stated that Abdullahi was apprehended while traveling from Bauchi State to Edo State, although he could not provide a clear destination. During a routine patrol, officers stopped Abdullahi for questioning and found a locally made cut-to-size gun during a subsequent search.
The suspect has been transferred to the police for further investigation and potential prosecution.
