Police arrest 9 protesters for displaying Russian flags in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has arrested nine protesters for displaying Russian flags in Maiduguri.

 

The State Commissioner of Police in Borno, CP Yusuf Lawal, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. 

 

He said the suspects were arrested on August 5 in the Zannari Tamsu area. 

 

Lawal identified those arrested as Khalafi Abdulhamid, Mohammed Abubakar, Mohamed Ibrahim, Abba Hassan, Bashir Ahmad, Musa Lawan, Abba Mallam, Habibu Auwal, and Inusa Abdullahi

 

“The suspects were transferred to the Crack Squad for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution,” he said.

 

The commissioner added that normalcy has returned to the state, while assuring that the police would continue to monitor and patrol the area to ensure public safety.

 

Protesters waving foreign flags have been spotted in Kano, Abuja, Kaduna and Borno since the nationwide demonstrations commenced on August 1.
