Police arrest robbers across Jigawa, recover POS machines, stolen items

Jigawa State Police Arrest Suspects in Armed Robbery and Cattle Rustling Operations
The Jigawa State Police Command arrested multiple suspects linked to armed robbery and cattle rustling in recent operations across the state. Authorities recovered cash, point-of-sale (POS) machines, mobile phones, and livestock.
Police spokesperson Shiisu Lawan Adam stated that the arrests were facilitated by the dedication of police personnel and collaboration with community vigilante groups. “These successes demonstrate the commitment and professionalism of our officers working closely with the public to combat crime,” he noted in a statement on Tuesday.
On February 6, a patrol team apprehended 22-year-old Ahmed Musa from Yobe State in Taura Local Government Area. Authorities found Musa in possession of two Android Vivo phones, an Android Smart 8, an Itel phone, a Nokia phone, four ATM cards, a speaker, a lighter, a rechargeable torchlight, and N15,017 in cash. Adam indicated that preliminary investigations suggest Musa is part of a syndicate responsible for targeting homes and robbing residents in Taura and nearby areas. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.
In another incident, police arrested 20-year-old Abdullahi Danladi and three accomplices in Ringim Local Government on January 28. The group reportedly attacked a motorcyclist, stealing two Moniepoint POS machines, an MP4 device, ATM cards, and N940,000 in cash. “The suspects were apprehended thanks to a swift response by our detectives, and the stolen items have been recovered,” Adam confirmed.
Additionally, the command intercepted cattle rustlers in Birnin Kudu Local Government. On January 29, 20-year-old Isa Alhaji Sabo was caught with seven stolen cows. He admitted to collaborating with accomplices to steal the livestock from the Rangwam and Alwashi communities. Efforts to apprehend his partners in crime are ongoing, and the recovered cattle were returned to their rightful owners.
On February 3, police arrested 24-year-old Adamu Babare while he attempted to sell nine of eleven sheep and rams stolen from the Sundimina District. Adam reported that two of the animals had already been sold, but the remainder was recovered. Babare has been arraigned in court.
Commissioner of Police Dahiru Muhammad commended the officers for their courage and professionalism, highlighting the vital support from other security agencies and local vigilante groups. He affirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout Jigawa State.
