Police arrest suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves, others in Katsina

Jigawa Police Capture Suspected Criminals in Multiple Operations

JIGAWA, Nigeria — Authorities have apprehended several individuals suspected of involvement in cattle rustling, motorcycle theft, and drug trafficking in Jigawa State, according to the state police command.

During these operations, law enforcement recovered a vehicle, motorcycles, illicit drugs, and livestock. The arrests are part of an ongoing initiative led by Commissioner of Police Dahiru Muhammad aimed at enhancing security across the state.

On January 15, 2026, a police patrol team in Hadejia intercepted a green Golf 3 vehicle on Hadejia/Kano Road. The vehicle was driven by Adamu Sani Ya’u, with Musa Abdullahi as a passenger. Officers discovered animal droppings, hair, rope, suspected cannabis, a Rizler, a blanket, and an extra license plate inside the car, suggesting it had been used to transport stolen livestock. The suspects are currently being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse.

In a separate incident in the Taura Local Government Area, criminals reportedly blocked a road and stole a motorcycle from a victim. Police later recovered the stolen bike through intelligence-led operations in the vicinity.

Additionally, detectives in Birnin Kudu arrested three men suspected of motorcycle theft, recovering a Bajaj motorcycle in the process. An unregistered motorcycle was also found in Hadejia after a suspect fled upon seeing police officers.

The police continue their efforts to combat crime and maintain public safety in the region.
