Kano Police Arrest Notorious Thug; Respond to Armed Robbery Incident

KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of Auwalu Ali, a 26-year-old man known locally as Auwalu Dan Daba, in Dorayi Quarters on January 31, 2026. Police attributed the arrest to credible intelligence regarding his involvement in thuggery and organized crime.

In a statement issued on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa detailed that officers from the Dorayi police division apprehended Ali after receiving information linking him to groups that have attacked and robbed members of the public.

“Acting on credible intelligence, police officers attached to Dorayi Division Kano apprehended Auwalu, who has a history of coordinating and organizing thuggery groups to attack and rob innocent citizens,” the statement read.

Additionally, the police reported a separate incident in Sharada Quarters, where officers responded to a distress call involving an armed robbery. During this incident, one suspect was killed by an angry mob, while a female victim sustained serious injuries. She has since been transported to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for treatment, where a police officer donated blood to aid in her recovery.

Police Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori commended the officers for their dedication and highlighted the blood donation as a commendable act of selflessness. He expressed gratitude to the residents of Kano State for their ongoing support and cooperation with law enforcement.

The Kano State Police Command urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency contact numbers.
