The Ogun State Police Command have arrested two brothers, Femi Fagbohun and Kayode Fagbohun, for kidnapping, robbing, and r@ping a 17-year-old girl, Ajiboye Aminat, a resident of Abeokuta.
The victim stated that on June 3, 2024, she had booked an online ride in a Toyota Camry with registration number EKP 352 AE, driven by Femi, from Lekki in Lagos State to Abeokuta Garage, Mowe.
When the vehicle stopped in front of Deeper Life Church, Lotto in Mowe, another man, Kayode, entered with a broken bottle, threatening to kill her if she made any noise. Femi then drove off to an unknown location.
During the ride, the victim was informed that she had been kidnapped and was asked to call someone to pay a ransom for her release.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, October 9, said that the victim was robbed of her iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at N840,000, a sum of N50,000 cash, and a ransom of N200,000 was collected from her boyfriend.
Odutola noted that the victim was taken to a remote area at Omu Junction, Ofada, where she was also r@ped by the assailants.
“The victim reported on Monday at about 10:02 AM that while travelling from Lekki in Lagos State to Abeokuta garage in Mowe, she booked an online ride in a Toyota Camry with registration number EKP 352AE,” the PPRO stated.
“She was informed that she had been kidnapped and was asked to call someone to pay a ransom. She called her boyfriend, Akinwale Williams, who transferred N200,000 to an FCMB account belonging to one Awanatu Hamzat Adejoke. A sum of N50,000 cash was taken from her, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at N840,000.”
“Following her report, investigators tracked her stolen phone to one Tunde Ajayi, a male from Oke Sioni Imedu Mowe, who led the detectives to Fagbohun Kayode, a 41-year-old male from Shodeko village Ofada.
“Upon questioning, Kayode admitted to entering the Camry at Deeper Life area and threatening the victim with a broken bottle. He also disclosed that the driver of the Camry is his older brother, Fagbohun Femi, a 43-year-old resident of Akeem Blocks Ofada
“Both men were later arrested and Kayode confessed to the crime.”
The duo revealed that they sold the vehicle used in carrying out the crime.
Odutole added that an unregistered blue Toyota Camry was recovered from the suspects.
“The case will be referred to the SCID Eleweran Abeokuta for further investigation.
