Yobe Police Uncover Interstate Motorcycle Theft Syndicate
The Yobe State Police Command announced the dismantling of an interstate syndicate suspected of burglary and motorcycle theft across Yobe, Gombe, and Bauchi states.
In a statement released on Friday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, reported that the operation was initiated based on credible intelligence.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Lukman Inusa from Potiskum Local Government Area. He was apprehended on March 3, 2026, around 11:00 a.m., following a coordinated effort by police operatives.
During initial questioning, Inusa reportedly confessed to stealing motorcycles and led investigators to recover five of approximately ten stolen bikes connected to his alleged criminal activities, according to SP Abdulkarim.
The recovered motorcycles are currently in police custody while efforts continue to identify and notify their rightful owners. Authorities are also intensifying efforts to recover the remaining motorcycles and apprehend other members of the syndicate.
The Public Relations Officer reiterated the command’s commitment to combating criminal activities, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy and ongoing operations aimed at dismantling such networks within the state.
