Police intensify search after abduction of two persons in Osun community

Osun State Police Intensify Search for Abducted Residents
The Osun State Police Command has escalated rescue operations following the abduction of two individuals in Ora-Igbomina, a community situated along the border of Osun and Kwara states.
The incident occurred late Sunday night, prompting the police to deploy search and rescue teams aimed at locating the victims and apprehending those responsible. According to information gathered by DAILY POST, the abducted individuals, identified as Sunday Oyekanmi Adeyeye, also known as Tayese, and Sunday Adewumi, were reportedly taken from a private residence along Aran–Orin Road in the Papa area.
Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed the incident on Tuesday, stating that officers were mobilized as soon as the command received information about the attack. “The abduction happened close to midnight during a period of heavy rainfall, which had earlier caused a patrol team in the area to withdraw temporarily,” Ojelabi explained.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m., just as the patrol team had returned to their base due to poor weather conditions. “It was during this window that the suspects struck,” Ojelabi added. He noted that a coordinated operation, involving patrol units and local intelligence, has since been activated to locate the victims and capture the perpetrators.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the attackers arrived in significant numbers, firing gunshots into the air to instill fear before swiftly entering the residence.
This incident has rekindled memories of a previous abduction in the community, involving Emmanuel Owolabi, a retired officer of the Nigerian Customs Service. Owolabi was abducted in December 2025 and was released in January 2026 in Oro Ago, Kwara State, after spending weeks in captivity.
