Yobe State Police Arrest Suspect in Motorcycle Theft

DAMATURU, Nigeria — The Yobe State Police Command announced the arrest of a 29-year-old man believed to be involved in motorcycle theft. The arrest follows the authorities’ ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.

Public Relations Officer SP Dungus Abdulkarim reported the incident in a statement on Thursday. According to the police, the incident originated on February 10, 2026, when Bukar Lawan, a resident of Sabon Fegi Ward, Damaturu, reported the theft of his motorcycle. Lawan had parked his ash and black Car-Go motorcycle outside a friend’s house in Nasarawa Ward before discovering that it was missing upon his return.

Upon receiving the report, police operatives initiated an investigation that led to the suspect’s apprehension later that week. Abdulkarim stated that during questioning, the suspect confessed to the theft, and the stolen motorcycle was subsequently recovered and registered as evidence.

The police have confirmed that the motorcycle will be returned to its rightful owner. Investigations are ongoing as authorities prepare for prosecution.
