Police nab two over alleged murder of herdsman in Taraba

Two Arrested in Fulani Herder’s Death in Taraba State
Authorities in Taraba State have arrested two men in connection with the killing of a Fulani herder in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the incident on social media on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as 20-year-old Musa Tukur, was attacked on February 2, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m. in Garin Kula. The confrontation occurred after Tukur’s cattle wandered into an irrigation farm owned by Abba Gwomu of Gwomu Village, damaging seedlings.
During the altercation, Tukur clashed with the two suspects—28-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar from Guyuk Local Government Area in Adamawa State and 25-year-old Gideon Joshua from Gwomu Village. According to reports, the suspects allegedly struck Tukur with a machete, inflicting severe head injuries.
Tukur was transported to Jen Primary Health Care Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities recovered a machete, a spear, and a stick at the scene of the incident.
The suspects are currently in police custody. The case will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. Officials are urging residents to remain calm while the investigation is conducted.
