Aisha Yesufu, a prominent human rights activist, has labeled the Nigeria Police Force as the “number one enemy” of the Nigerian people. Her comments came in response to a confrontation between police and protesters at the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Yesufu expressed her outrage on social media platform X, stating, “On the campaign trail as we have Area Council elections on Saturday, only to hear of police tear-gassing unarmed protesters demanding mandatory electronic transmission of results.” She further criticized the police, asserting that they serve as a tool of oppression against the Nigerian populace.
