Nasarawa State, Nigeria — Police operatives in Nasarawa State have apprehended a suspected kidnapper and seized firearms during a raid on a criminal hideout.
The operation was conducted by officers from the State Intelligence Department based on credible information that identified a location in Gidan Akuya Village, within Keana Local Government Area. Upon arrival, the suspects attempted to flee but were intercepted by the police. The authorities arrested a 43-year-old man, identified as Jibril Yunusa.
A subsequent search of the hideout yielded an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, and a locally manufactured firearm. According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer Ramhan Nansel, Yunusa confessed during interrogation to his involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents in the Keana and Awe regions.
“The suspect admitted participating in several kidnapping activities within the Keana and Awe axis and has provided useful information that will assist in ongoing investigations,” Nansel stated.
In response to the operation, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed has ordered an intensified manhunt for other members of the gang who escaped during the raid. He praised the officers for their professionalism and commitment, assuring residents that the police remain dedicated to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes throughout the state.
