Police recruitment: Lagos CP calls for transparency, warns applicants against fraud

Lagos State Police Commissioner Calls for Integrity in Recruitment of 50,000 Constables

LAGOS, Nigeria — Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh emphasized the need for integrity and transparency in the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables. His comments came as the process entered the credentials and physical screening phase.

In a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi, the recruitment exercise is being closely monitored by a dedicated team from the Nigeria Police Force alongside the Police Service Commission.

During a meeting with the screening team at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja on March 9, 2026, CP Jimoh highlighted the importance of fairness in the process. He noted that the credibility of both the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission hinges on the integrity of the recruitment exercise.

“The integrity of the process reflects on the nation as a whole,” CP Jimoh stated, urging the team to adhere to established guidelines and maintain a high level of professionalism to ensure that only qualified candidates are selected.

The screening team, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Adebisi Balogun and Chief Administrative Officer Eleyinmi Akinola from the Police Service Commission, assured CP Jimoh of their commitment to conducting the exercise in accordance with due process. They are coordinating with the Federal Character Commission and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to facilitate a smooth and secure screening process.

Applicants have been cautioned to be vigilant against individuals soliciting money or favors in exchange for placement in the force. Instead, they are encouraged to adhere to their scheduled screening dates and bring the required documentation.

“The screening exercise is absolutely free of charge. Applicants and the public are warned to beware of fraudsters who may demand money or promise assistance in influencing the process,” CP Jimoh stated.

Required documents for screening include:

  • Printed Invitation Slips
  • National Identity Number (NIN)
  • Educational Certificates
  • Birth Certificate
  • Completed Guarantors Form
  • Other relevant credentials

To avoid confusion, applicants are directed to visit the official recruitment portal, where they can verify their status and print necessary documents such as the Application Submission Slip and Screening Forms. These must be presented at the screening venue on the assigned date and time.

The Lagos State Police Command urges all applicants to fully comply with the guidelines to ensure a successful recruitment process.
