Police smash kidnapping syndicate, arrest two in Ondo

Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers in Ondo State
The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of kidnapping in various locations across the state. The suspects, Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35, were taken into custody in Sabo Sango, Ado Road, and Ilado Community within the Akure North Local Council Area.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh, the arrests were made by the command’s anti-kidnapping unit, acting on credible tracking analysis and technical intelligence.
Jimoh stated that the suspects are currently providing valuable information to law enforcement as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of kidnapping incidents in the area. In addition, he noted that the police recovered the motorcycles used by the suspects to facilitate their operations.
“The Ondo State Police Command has recorded a significant operational breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state,” Jimoh said. “This development reaffirms the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property.”
Preliminary investigations indicate that Sindiku and Okoh are linked to a broader kidnapping syndicate. They reportedly used their motorcycles for reconnaissance, gathering intelligence on potential targets, and supplying logistical support, including food and other materials for syndicate operations.
Jimoh assured the public that efforts to apprehend any remaining members of the group are ongoing.
