Traffic Disrupted on Abuja–Keffi Expressway Amid Truck Driver Protest
ABUJA, Nigeria – Traffic has been significantly disrupted along the Abuja–Keffi expressway following a protest by truck drivers, who barricaded the highway in response to the alleged assault and arrest of a colleague.
Eyewitnesses report that the incident began when a VIP convoy confronted a truck driver for allegedly failing to yield the right of way. This confrontation escalated, resulting in claims of assault and the driver’s subsequent arrest by security personnel.
In solidarity, truck drivers established a blockade, halting both inbound and outbound traffic near Mararaba in Nasarawa State. This protest has effectively closed a critical route to and from Abuja, leaving thousands of commuters stranded and causing traffic to stretch for several kilometers.
As of this report, security authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident.
