Police Service Commission Partners with PCRC for Recruitment of 50,000 Constables

ABUJA — The Police Service Commission (PSC) has engaged the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) as a key partner in the recruitment process for 50,000 police constables, aimed at ensuring transparency and integrity in the selection of candidates.

Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs at PSC Headquarters, made the announcement in a statement on Thursday. The collaboration was established during a recent stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja.

As part of the preparations for the recruitment, the physical and credentials screening will begin on Monday, March 9, 2026, at various locations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), Chairman of the Police Service Commission, commended the PCRC for its ongoing commitment to national security, noting the organization’s history of investing personal resources into safety initiatives. He encouraged the PCRC to exhibit the same dedication throughout the recruitment process.

“The Commission is resolutely poised to ensure that only the finest and most credible Nigerians wear the uniform of a police constable,” Argungu stated. “An effective police force is built on the quality of its recruitment.”

He also urged PCRC leaders at the state level to collaborate with PSC officials, state employment departments, and the Nigeria Police Force State Intelligence Department to scrutinize applicants. Their responsibilities will include verifying candidates’ local ties and character to prevent individuals with dubious backgrounds from joining the police force.

Responding on behalf of the PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, Deputy National President (North) Amb. Wada Sadiq expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the committee. He assured the PSC of their commitment to aiding in the recruitment of qualified candidates for the police force.
