Former Police Chief Resigns, Citing Personal Matters
The presidency has confirmed the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced that Egbetokun stepped down due to personal matters requiring his full attention. In his resignation letter, Egbetokun specifically mentioned family issues that necessitated his undivided focus.
“The IGP resigned today, citing family issues which required his undivided attention,” Onanuga stated.
Egbetokun’s resignation gained significant media attention on Tuesday, following a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. Sources indicate that the president directed Egbetokun to resign during this meeting.
