Romano clears air on Iniesta becoming new technical director of Morocco after Regragui’s resignation

Fabrizio Romano Clarifies Reports on Iniesta’s Potential Role with Moroccan Football Team
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has addressed recent speculation regarding Andrés Iniesta’s potential appointment as the technical director of the Moroccan national football team. This follows the resignation of Walid Regragui as head coach.
Regragui stepped down yesterday, just six weeks after Morocco’s defeat to Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final held on home soil.
Following his departure, reports suggested that Iniesta had signed a contract to assume the technical director role. However, Romano took to X on Friday to refute these claims, stating that no agreement has been finalized.
“Despite reports, nothing signed or official yet between Andrés Iniesta and Morocco to become the new technical director,” Romano tweeted. He added that discussions are ongoing, with the Moroccan Football Federation expressing interest in Iniesta, but emphasized that the decision ultimately rests with the former Barcelona star.
