Sani, Abbas set two million vote target for Kaduna APC in 2027

Kaduna APC Aims for Two Million Votes in 2027 Election
KADUNA, Nigeria — Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas have set a target of securing two million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. They made this announcement during the state’s Congress on Tuesday, where Isaac Atiku Sankay was appointed as the consensus chairman.
Sankay, who was born in 1983, serves as the Special Adviser on Peace and Conflict Resolution to the governor. His selection followed consultations with party stakeholders from all 23 local government areas in the state, aimed at fostering unity ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
In his address to the delegates, Governor Sani characterized the congress as “a defining moment” that exemplifies the party’s cohesion and democratic discipline. He reported that 6,885 ward executives were elected across 255 wards, while 621 local government executives emerged from grassroots congresses. Additionally, he noted the affirmation and swearing-in of 36 state executives, highlighting the party’s robust grassroots organization.
Sani noted that the adoption of consensus candidates reflects “political maturity and unity, not weakness.” He reaffirmed his commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and promised to mobilize efforts from polling units upward to ensure success in 2027.
In his remarks, Abbas urged the newly elected executives to unify various factions within the party and focus on achieving over two million votes each for both Tinubu and Sani. He acknowledged the outgoing leadership for its past successes and expressed confidence that their target for 2027 can be reached through discipline and dedication.
In his acceptance speech, Sankay expressed gratitude to God and party stakeholders for their trust. “I will serve with discipline, courage, and measurable results,” he stated.
Sankay emphasized his experience in peace-building, which includes collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, faith leaders, and civil society to promote stability. He pledged to enhance internal democracy, strengthen grassroots mobilization, and create more opportunities for youth and women’s participation within the party.
In a farewell address, outgoing chairman Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (retired) thanked party members for their support during his eight-year term. “I leave behind a stronger and more united APC in Kaduna State,” Jekada remarked.
