Lagos State Appoints New Accountant-General
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has appointed Muyiwa John Adetola as the new Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary of the State Treasury Office. This decision was conveyed in an official circular from the Office of the Head of Service, which was published on the Lagos State Government’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
Adetola takes over from Abiodun Muritala, who recently retired from the position. Before this appointment, Adetola served as the State Auditor-General and was redeployed to head the State Treasury Office.
The appointment is effective immediately, having commenced on Monday, March 2, 2026.
In the statement, Head of Service Mr. Bode Agoro conveyed his best wishes to Adetola and emphasized the importance of cooperation among stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition. “The strategic redeployment demonstrates the State Government’s commitment to ensuring efficiency, accountability, and continuity in public financial management,” the statement noted.
