Scotland stay unbeaten at Euro curling with wins against Switzerland and Austria

Defending men’s champions Scotland top the European Curling Championships standings and are the only unbeaten side left in the competition after two more wins on Monday.

First, they beat Switzerland 7-6 after an extra end, then overwhelmed Austria 10-2, having already secured wins against the Netherlands, Norway and England.

Mouat has been skip for Scotland’s three consecutive European titles as well as their 2018 win.

They will face Italy on Tuesday (12:00 GMT) live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.

“It was a good day today, with two really good wins,” said Mouat.

“We got a bit fortunate with the two steals early on in the Austria game, but that result solidified a really good day for us.”

In the women’s competition, Rebecca Morrison’s Scottish rink got their campaign back on track with a 9-3 win over Hungary.

Earlier on Monday, they led Turkey 4-2 going into the last end, only to concede a three.

“We know we have four games left that we can win so that’s what we’ll be trying our best to do,” said Sophie Jackson.

The win takes the Scots’ record to two victories from five with matches against Estonia and Lithuania on Tuesday (17:00) – the latter live on the BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.
