SEC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honors – March 3, 2021.

Player of the Week: Florida’s top singles and doubles player, McCartney Kessler went 4-0 for the week in doubles and singles combined, with two top-50 singles wins and two top-50 doubles wins. No. 32 Kessler, extended her winning streak to four-straight singles matches and helped push the Gators to a pair of top 25 wins and perfect 2-0 SEC weekend. No. 26 Kessler and Zein collected their fourth and fifth straight wins over the weekend, helping UF secure the doubles point. Kessler clinched the Gators’ win over No. 22 Texas A&M.

Freshman of the Week: Arkansas’ Indianna Spinks went undefeated on the weekend, beating both singles opponents in straight sets in the No. 2 position and was the match-clinching win in both matches. She battled back from a 2-5 deficit in the 2nd set vs Ellie Wright at Missouri to win 6-3, 7-5 and clinch the match. She also defeated Laura Bente of Memphis, 6-4, 6-2. She is on a three match singles win streak and six match doubles win streak. Arkansas is 9-0 overall, its best start since 2005. The Razorbacks remain the only undefeated team in the SEC.

Newcomer of the Week: Kentucky’s Carlota Molina rallied from behind to win both of her singles matches this weekend on court No. 2, despite losing the first set in each match. Against Alabama’s Sasha Gorchanyuk, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, earning UK’s fourth point to clinch the dual match. She also defeated Auburn’s Yu Chen, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. She improved to a 9-1 singles record this season, competing all of her matches on court No. 2.
