Security agencies stage show of force in Ondo amid rising insecurity

Security Forces Conduct Operations in Response to Rising Insecurity in Ondo
AKURE, Ondo State — In light of recent security concerns, law enforcement agencies in Ondo State conducted a coordinated operation in Akure on Monday, aimed at deterring criminal activity in the region.
The operation involved multiple agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Security (DSS), and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly known as the Amotekun Corps.
Led by Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal, along with Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye and the Commanding Officer of the 323 Artillery Brigade, security officials emphasized that the operation was intended to convey a strong message to potential criminals about the heightened law enforcement presence.
“The joint operation will extend throughout the towns and will also include searches in the forests within the state,” Adeleye stated. He reiterated the commitment of the Amotekun Corps and allied agencies to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
During the operation, Adeleye noted, “We are conducting thorough searches and will continuously monitor every corner of the state to ensure safety and reduce criminality as much as possible.”
Commissioner Lawal added, “This coordinated show of force among the security agencies is to reassure the citizens of Ondo State that we are actively maintaining law and order.” He referenced recent incidents in the Akure North area as a motivation for the enhanced security measures, particularly in anticipation of upcoming festivities associated with Salah.
The operations reflect a unified approach to addressing rising insecurity and ensuring the safety of residents across Ondo State.
