Senate Begins Screening of Taiwo Oyedele for Minister of State for Finance

The Senate commenced the screening of Taiwo Oyedele for the role of Minister of State for Finance on Wednesday.

The session was initiated following a motion by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who advocated for Oyedele’s admission into the chamber. Oyedele arrived at approximately 2:21 PM, accompanied by Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate matters, along with other officials.

Notable attendees included Kayode Ajulo, the Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, and Tokunbo Kayode, a former Minister of Defence.

This screening follows President Tinubu’s formal request to the Senate on Tuesday for Oyedele’s confirmation to succeed Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

In addition to Oyedele’s nomination, the President also requested the Senate’s confirmation of former Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. Both nominations were presented in separate letters read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the plenary session.
