High Court Sentences Serial Killer to Life Imprisonment in Ghana
A High Court in Wa, Ghana, has sentenced Shariff Abdulai, also known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment for his involvement in multiple murders. The sentencing took place on Wednesday, following Abdulai’s admission of guilt in the killings, including that of Issah Yahaya and numerous other victims.
The Ghana Police Service issued a statement detailing Abdulai’s confession. He admitted to murdering 23 individuals across various locations in the country. According to the Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Yiribaare, Abdulai’s crimes included 16 victims in Wa, five in Bole, and one each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.
Abdulai was apprehended by police on October 6, 2025, as a result of extensive intelligence-led operations and investigations. Following his arrest, he was presented to a District Magistrate Court, which later referred the case to the High Court. He was formally arraigned on March 4, 2026.
During court proceedings, Abdulai, represented by legal counsel, entered a guilty plea to the charges. Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi presided over the case and delivered the life sentence with hard labor. Abdulai will serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its dedication to maintaining the rule of law and ensuring the safety of citizens.
