Seven-bedroom building damaged by fire in Taraba

Firefighters Contain Blaze in Jalingo, Prevent Significant Damage
JALINGO, Taraba State — Firefighters successfully contained a fire that erupted on Saturday morning in the Jeka Da Fari area, preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings.
According to the Taraba State Command of the Federal Fire Service, the fire was reported at approximately 9:16 a.m. through the National Emergency line (112). The alert was conveyed by the National Communications Commission.
Preliminary investigations indicate that an electrical surge was the cause of the fire, which affected a seven-bedroom residential building owned by Danladi Gwampo. The structure measured about 100 by 100 feet.
Responding personnel managed to save properties valued at around N50 million. However, items worth an estimated N20 million were destroyed in the incident. Fortunately, the fire service reported no casualties or injuries.
In a statement, Public Relations Officer Sylvanus Mikailu noted that firefighters from the Federal Fire Service were deployed to the scene, where they conducted a swift assessment and initiated an aggressive firefighting operation. The operation received additional support from the Taraba State Fire Service.
Security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Army were also present to provide security at the site.
