Sexual assault allegation: Peloton removes viral Chris Noth advert

Fitness equipment company, Peloton has removed a new commercial featuring “Sex and the City” actor Chris Noth who has been accused of sexual assault.

Two women have come forward to accuse Noth, 67, of sexual assault in separate incidents which allegedly took place in 2005 and 2015. However, the actor best known for playing Mr Big in the SATC franchise, has vehemently denied the allegations saying they are ‘categorically false’.

Noth returned to screens this month in HBO Max’s And Just Like That, a new chapter of SATC. However, fans were given a shock when Noth’s character, Mr Big, was killed off in the first episode when he suffered a heart attack after a rigorous workout on his Peloton.

The fitness equipment company acted quickly off the back of the buzz and released a short witty clip which saw Mr Big return with Ryan Reynolds narrating. The ad went viral and centered on Noth dying of a heart attack after completing his 1,000th Peloton ride.

The ad features Noth who has vehemently denied the accusations against him and Peloton’s Jess King, who played his favorite instructor, Allegra, on the show.

Sitting across from each other on a couch, in front of a crackling fire, Noth, 67, tells King, “To new beginnings,” to which King replies, “You look great.”

“Oh, I feel great,” Noth adds. “Should we take another ride? Life’s too short not to.” Ryan Reynolds then adds via voiceover;

 “And just like that … the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases. Cycling strengthens your heart, muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels. He’s alive.”

Peloton has now removed the ad from its Twitter and Instagram accounts. They were removed on Thursday December 16, shortly after Hollywood Reporter dropped a bombshell exposé containing the women’s claims.

Peloton said in a statement released to the Mail Online;

 ‘Every single sexual assault accusation must be taken seriously. We were unaware of these allegations when we featured Chris Noth in our response to HBO’s reboot.

‘As we seek to learn more, we have stopped promoting this video and archived related social posts.’
