Sharks skipper facing lengthy ban for ugly tackle

Sharks skipper Dale Finucane is facing three to four weeks on the sideline after being charged by the NRL’s match review committee.

Finucane has been hit with a grade two dangerous contact charge for a hip drop tackle on Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad in Sunday’s match against the Warriors.

Because it’s Finucane’s third offence, he’s looking at a three week ban if he takes the early plea, and four if he’s found guilty by the judiciary.

Two other players have been hit with the same grade two dangerous contact charge, the Warriors’ Marata Niukore and the Bulldogs’ Jayden Okunbor.

It’s Niukore’s second offence, meaning he’s facing two weeks on the sideline with an early plea or three if he fights the charge and loses, while Okunbor’s first offence will attract either a one- or two-week ban.

MORE TO COME.
