Shiites stage protest in Bauchi to mark Quds day

Bauchi State, Nigeria – Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) staged a protest on Friday in Bauchi State, demonstrating solidarity with Palestinians as part of the annual observance of Quds Day.
The protesters, commonly referred to as Shiites, marched peacefully in support of Palestine. Ahmad Yashi, a representative of the IMN, explained that the rally was part of a global recognition of Quds Day, which occurs on the last Friday of Ramadan each year.
“This event aims to express support for Palestinians and draw attention to their long-standing struggles,” Yashi stated. “It is organized worldwide to show solidarity for those affected by decades of conflict.”
Yashi underscored that the IMN has consistently held peaceful demonstrations and dismissed any suggestions that the rally would violate local laws. He also refuted assertions that the protest would disrupt state activities, particularly following reports of an airstrike that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“Our hearts are with Iran. Attempts to target the Supreme Leader aim to force the country into submission, but they are mistaken. As a religious figure, he plays a crucial role in easing tensions,” Yashi said.
The demonstration was positioned as a show of solidarity not only with Palestine but also with Iran. Yashi urged Muslims to adopt what he described as a stance for justice in the ongoing conflicts.
“We conducted a peaceful demonstration in support of Iran, and it is imperative for every Muslim to take a stand. One must choose to align with the righteous or the oppressors,” he added.
