2023 Presidency: Tinubu Reacts To Rumours Surrounding His Health

Sit-At-Home: Tinubu Dares IPOB, Hold Anambra, Imo Presidential Campaigns On Mondays

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fixed his campaign rallies in Anambra State and Imo State on Mondays.

Naija News reports that the APC and Tinubu’s decision to hold their presidential campaigns on Mondays goes against the sit-at-home order earlier issued by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the Southeast region.

According to the timetable released by the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Tinubu will hold a campaign rally and a stakeholders’ engagement in Imo State on Monday, 21 November.

While on Monday, 30 January, the campaign train will move to Anambra, the home state of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.

The Nnamdi Kanu-led IPOB declared the sit-at-home order in August 2021 to protest and demand the release of their leader, who is standing trial on treason and terrorism charges by the Nigerian government.

Violators of the sit-at-home order have been victims of violence and killings by gunmen in southeast states on Mondays. Vehicular movements and commercial activities are on halt in compliance with IPOB’s order.

However, the pro-Biafra group had come out to declare an end to the sit-at-home and the violence, but this has done little or nothing to stop the violence and killing in the region.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Abdulazeez Olajide Adeniran, popularly known as Jandor, has slammed Bola Tinubu over his comments on his running mate, Funke Akindele.

Naija News reported that Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC had warned his supporters against mentioning Akindele’s name in his presence.

The former Governor of Lagos said it is an insult to compare the Nollywood actress cum politician with his anointed candidate, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Tinubu made this known during the party’s caucus meeting on Wednesday at the Lagos APC Secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba.

Reacting to Tinubu’s comments, Adeniran stated that Tinubu and the APC should be ashamed of themselves for discrediting and ridiculing his running mate all in the name of politics.

In a series of tweets via his Twitter handle on Thursday, The PDP governorship candidate asserted that those castigating Akindele are frightened by her enviable status and achievement.

Adeniran opined that Nigerian parents are proud of his running mate, who rose to her current enviable status through her dedication, hard work, and parental training, except for those who trained theirs with public funds.

He wrote: “Over the last few months, through radio and television interviews and communications via the Lagos4Lagos channels, I have graciously responded to questions about my decision to invite Funke Akindele to run with me as deputy governor of Lagos state.

“Despite my very clear intentions, people have continued to try to discredit Funke Akindele and ridicule her capacity to lead, using the very things that have brought her great success, and acclaim as reasons to attack her. Let me state it again, unequivocally.

“Funke Akindele is my running mate because she is one of the most accomplished indigenes of Lagos state, an extremely savvy businesswoman who has contributed so much in Lagos economy where those who spoke little of her have made their fortunes, without a trace to any personal business of theirs, before attaining public office.

“She understands the power of narrative and has used it to advance causes important to her, her exemplary career of over twenty years in an industry where the stars of others have risen and waned, speaks volume of her tenacity.”
