Socceroos make one change for Denmark

Good evening, and welcome to our coverage of what could be a historic day at the FIFA World Cup for Australia.

It’s all to play for as the Socceroos clash with Denmark in a Group D match almost certain to determine who goes through in second place behind France.

For Denmark the equation is simple: win or go home. It’s slightly more complex for Australia.

If Graham Arnold’s men win they’re guaranteed a berth in the round of 16. If they draw they qualify assuming Tunisia don’t spring a huge upset against France. Even a draw against the group heavyweights isn’t enough for Tunisia to force their way into the equation, so the most likely scenario is that a draw is good enough for the Socceroos.

The Group D equation will play out in the 2am (AEDT) time slot, then it’s on to Group C at 6am (AEDT), with all four teams still in line to top the group, and all four teams still in danger of finishing last.

Poland sits top of the group on four points but play Argentina, who sits second on three. If Lionel Messi’s Argentina wins that game the door opens for Saudi Arabia (3 points) and Mexico (1 point) as they play each other in a must win clash.
