Son Arrested in Father’s Kidnapping in Adamawa State
Three suspects, including the biological son of the victim, have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Alhaji Ahmadu in the Malabu community of Fufore Local Government Area, Adamawa State. The arrests occurred during a coordinated operation by security operatives, according to a statement from the Adamawa State Police Command.
The abduction took place on January 30, 2026. In a release on Tuesday, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Public Relations Officer for the state police, stated that the operation was conducted in line with directive from Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris, aimed at strengthening efforts against criminal activity.
Police, in collaboration with the local Miyetti Allah security group, targeted a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Jera village, which led to the apprehension of the suspects. They have been identified as Lawali Haruna, 45; Yahaya Ibrahim, 25; and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28, all residents of Jera.
Authorities indicated that the case is particularly concerning, as one of the apprehended suspects is the son of the kidnapped man. “All three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime,” the statement noted.
The police are actively pursuing efforts to rescue the victim unharmed and are working to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate. Meanwhile, the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
Commissioner Morris praised the collaboration between law enforcement and local security entities and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring safety in Adamawa State. He encouraged the public to provide “timely and credible information” to aid ongoing investigations.
