[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] The absolute stars of the new Stila collection for summer isn’t the palette (although it is a very decent palette that might well tempt you) – it’s the Putty Blush duo and the Plumping Lip Glazes.

Stila Summer 2021

My version is in Bronzed Petunia but there are other combinations available. It’s in a beautiful bouncy-creme formula – that makes for a beautiful diffusion on the cheeks as well as a pop of colour. It’s reminding me a lot of a Laura Mercier combo I used to have and of course, Bobbi Brown’s ‘pops’ of colour.  Petunia is an instant enlivener – you really don’t need very much at all. You can apply with finger tips or a soft brush (which I prefer) and both look lovely on bare skin – nothing else is needed. It’s £29 HERE and will see you the summer through.

Plumping Lip Glaze comes in six shades and I have two here. Because the formula is plumping there’s a bit of a mint tingle – since plumpers never, ever work on me that’s the bit I’d like to eliminate straight away, but the melted sorbet shades in this shiny, translucent texture is a delight.

The shades I have are Flora and Davina – I could happily wear either for that milky shine that gives a wash of brightening colour to the lips. Davina (back) is a shimmery coral shade and Flora is a succulent pink. They’re £20 each HERE.

You can see the blush diffusion in the swatch. I’ve done quite a loaded swatch to show the colour but you wouldn’t need as much actually on the face. There’s also a swatch of the Smudge Stick Waterproof Liner in Jasper which has a metallic element bringing it to a deep bronze shade.

I was very impressed with the colour quality in the Camouflage Beauty Palette. Swatching was an absolute breeze with a strong seam of colour from brush to arm straight away. However, I have to flag that the shade Triumph (silver, second along bottom row) is so soft that I carved out far more than I meant to using exactly the same brush pressure that I’d used for the other colours. The result isn’t pretty! It’s a mix of matte and shimmery-metallic shades – the top left shade, Fearless, is a glistening khaki that works at any intensity. I’d quite happily wear it as a mono lid shade and loads of mascara for a smoky looking eye that’s minimal effort.

think I like this combination – I’m not sure I’d run to grab it because most of these shades are colours I already have and don’t reach for that often, but when you’re in a metallic mood, you have to go with it! I can’t criticise the intensity, texture or quality of these colours in the Camouflage palette (£32 HERE) but I’m more drawn to the summery shades of the blush and glaze.
