Summer Fridays R+R Mask | British Beauty Blogger

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m a bit obsessed with Summer Fridays because it all sounds so deliciously promising. It’s a clever name that captures a mood, aspiration and a moment all in one (well, two) and I’ve only ever tried the lip balm before. The Summery Fridays Jet Lag mask had a lot of media because of its soothing nature and the ability to replenish the skin and I think I’d put R+R in the same category.

The scent is gorgeously rosy and the gel texture is immediately cooling. I had to search for a long time to understand what the ‘scrubby’ bits are because they are curiously not mentioned on the packaging or description. Turns out they’re bits of rose (but they feel more scrubby to me) which may be the ‘rose flower powder’ on the INCI. But, being pedantic, that isn’t powder. As well as hydrating and soothing (yes, it does both), there’s a brightening element (vitamin C and the er, powder) and it’s a very enjoyable mask both for the softening and hydrating it leaves behind, the fresh feeling and the beautiful fragrance.

There’s argan oil and avocado oil but the main ingredient is cheap as chips safflower oil. No harm in that because it’s a great oil full of essential fatty acids but this mask is £48. Apply a layer (never needs to be thick as indicated on most masks) and leave for 10 minutes before removing with a warm cloth and finally massaging in the remaining oils – after which my skin was truly soft and felt happily cooled and hydrated. Keep it in the fridge for hot day soothing. I’m conflicted about the price – on the one hand, it really is a delight that fulfils the promises, on the other hand it seems an awful lot especially considering the basic packaging. Everyone’s skin care budget is different I guess and it’s a big recommend from me if it fits with yours. You can find it HERE, non-affiliate HERE.
