Super Eagles: Chelle names two things he wants to achieve with Nigeria

Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle Aims for AFCON and World Cup Success

Eric Chelle, head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, expressed his ambition to secure both the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the FIFA World Cup during his tenure. In a recent interview on the Histoires de Foot Podcast, Chelle shared his aspirations for the team and his vision for the future.

Chelle, who currently has less than a year remaining on his contract, framed his objectives within the context of his coaching development. “I have a structure around me to try to progress as a coach,” he remarked. Although he previously stated a personal goal of becoming the first African coach at Real Madrid, he clarified that winning AFCON with Nigeria is also a significant priority.

“I want to win the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria. If we had qualified, I wanted to aim for the World Cup and, ultimately, to win that too,” he said.

At 48, Chelle highlighted his enthusiasm and determination to achieve his dreams, stating, “I have lots of dreams… I am still young and someone who wants to realise his dreams.”

Under Chelle’s leadership, the Super Eagles secured a bronze medal at the 2025 AFCON held in Morocco.
