Suspended Ebonyi commissioner accepts blame, apologises to Gov Nwifuru

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works Issues Public Apology Following Suspension

EBONYI STATE — Lebechi Mbam, the suspended Commissioner for Works, publicly apologized after being indefinitely suspended by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru due to alleged lapses in his duties.

Governor Nwifuru announced the suspension over the weekend, which also encompassed Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development, citing deficiencies in their performance at the Ministry of Works.

In a statement posted on social media following his suspension, Mbam accepted accountability for failing to meet expectations during his tenure. “Leadership and mentorship come with the ability to take accolades and the courage to take correction and reprimand,” he remarked.

Mbam reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Nwifuru, describing him as both a leader and a mentor. He acknowledged that the governor prioritizes performance within the Ministry of Works and indicated that disciplinary actions are necessary for enhancing governance and service delivery.

“I accept responsibility for the unmet expectations of the Ministry of Works under my watch. On behalf of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Works, I take accountability for the observed lapses,” Mbam stated.

He expressed regret for any perceived disappointments and assured that recent events would motivate the ministry to reassess its operations, strengthen weak areas, and build upon its existing strengths.

“Your Excellency, I apologize for every perceived disappointment. We will do better, and a second chance will not be taken for granted,” he added.
