A former female minister excelled in corruption and set a record that is yet to be beaten by anybody - Danjuma

Former  Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma (retd.) has narrated how a female petroleum minister almost made him have a change of mind in advocating for jobs to be given to women.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Goodwill Medical Centre  built and equipped by his Foundation at Umuchigbo, Iji Nike, Enugu, Damjuma said the female minister has set a record yet to be beaten by anybody.

He said;

“I used to say that if you want anything properly done and delivered on time without any excuses, give the job to a woman until we had a female minister of petroleum. That woman excelled in corruption. She set a record that is yet to be beaten by anybody.

“So, I was in the process of reviewing my statement when I met one lady, Prof. Uche Amazigo Uche and I have come a very long way. My first encounter with Uche was around mid-October 2010 when she, accompanied by Mrs. Franca Ilamiji, another Igbo woman.”

Labour party agent beaten and bundled out of Imo collation centre

A Labour Party (LP) agent in Imo State, Calistus Ihejiagwa, was in the early hours of today November 12, beaten and bundled out of the Imo State Collation Centre in Owerri, the state capital.

Ihejiagwa was protesting the results being presented at the collation center, He argued that the results collated from the local government areas that were being presented did not tally with the ones on the Result Viewing Portal (IREV).

Ihejiagwa repeatedly said he had a petition to submit before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) but he was shut down by the Returning Officer for the election, Prof Abayomi Fashina, who said it was not in his purview to receive petitions.

Ihejiagwa was viewed as an interruption by his colleagues who subsequently bundled him out of the collation centre at 5am while collation continued.

Two suspects beaten to pulp for allegedly kidnapping varsity students

Two suspected kidnappers were arrested and beaten to pulp for kidnapping two tertiary level students in Kitengela, Machakos County, Kenya.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in a statement on Thursday, November 2, 2023, said the victims went missing on October 27, after being lured to their kidnappers’ den by a female suspect.

The suspects, Brian Ombasa Omoso, 25 and Humphrey Hinga, 22, held the victims hostage at an AirBnB at Elgon View apartments in Kitengela, while demanding Sh6 million ransom from their parents.

According to DCI, the suspects who were arrested in the operation led by DCI’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau detective, are believed to have been working jointly with the woman who identifies and lures targeted victims.

The lady who identified herself to the victims as Debbie Zablon separately lured the duo for a meet-up at a common venue in Nairobi, and surrendered them to her accomplices.

During investigation, it emerged that the female accomplice had used a stolen ID card to register the line which she used to communicate with the male students.

The legitimate owner of the ID card had earlier reported its loss at Lang’ata Police Station, a move that exonerated her from the suspects’ mix.

The DCI added that the “terrified hunger-stricken victims were reunited with their kin, but not without a lesson of the existence of masquerades who will do anything for money.”

An imitation of a pistol, a dagger, subscriber sim cards used to contact the parents, fake front and rear car registration plates (KDD 881M) believed to have been used during their transportation and assorted tools were also recovered from the hostage room.

Update: Tech CEO Pava LaPere was found beaten to death on the roof of her swish apartment building as cops hunt for her killer

Tech CEO Pava LaPere was found beaten to death on the roof of her swish apartment building as cops hunt for her killer

The body of a Baltimore tech entrepreneur was reportedly found beaten to death on Monday in her luxury apartment complex was discovered on the roof of the building.

Update: Tech CEO Pava LaPere was found beaten to death on the roof of her swish apartment building as cops hunt for her killer

Pava LaPere, the 26-year-old founder of EcoMap Technologies, was killed by ‘blunt force trauma’, police said on Tuesday, September 26.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old local man, Jason Billingsley, who was released from prison less than a year ago after serving only seven years of a 30-year sentence.

Police sources confirmed to DailyMail.com that LaPere’s badly-beaten body was found on the roof of her luxury apartment building.

Reaching the area would have potentially meant climbing a ladder or fire escape, the source explained.

The macabre twist raises the possibility that LaPere was either led up there before she was attacked, or that her body was discarded on the roof afterwards to try to hide the crime.

‘That’s pretty horrifying,’ said Chris McNees, a tenant of the building. He told WJZ, a media partner of The Baltimore Banner, that the apartment complex felt safe.

‘I mean, just for that to happen anywhere in the city is obviously a bad thing, but it’s hard to imagine why this would happen specifically in this building.’

Billingsley is not believed to have known LaPere, who lived on the seventh floor of the building.

Police on Tuesday would not comment on how he got into the building, other than to say it was ‘secure’.

‘It was a secure building where someone had to have allowed the individual into the building,’ said Richard Worley, acting Baltimore police commissioner.

Billingsley is now believed to have struck days earlier in a knifepoint sex assault and arson attack that left two people fighting for their lives, DailyMail can exclusively reveal.

He faces charges of first-degree murder, assault, and reckless endangerment in the killing of 26-year-old LaPere, a rising star in tech who made the prestigious Forbes ’30 Under 30′ list.

The 6ft 4, 305lbs suspect had been jailed for 30 years in 2015, was set free in October 2022 – just seven years into his sentence. It is unclear why he was released so swiftly.

LaPere was found dead on Monday morning at her Baltimore apartment with blunt force injuries that one veteran officer described to DailyMail as ‘absolutely brutal – some of the worst I’ve seen.’

Announcing the warrant for Billingsley’s capture, Worley said the ‘repeat violent offender’ is a suspect in ‘at least one other case,’ without elaborating.

‘BPD’s Special Investigations Section is working to determine potential connections to Billingsley and other cases,’ the police said.

Detectives are probing possible links to an assault and arson attack in West Baltimore on September 19 that left two people in critical condition and a child in the hospital.

The incident began when firefighters responded to smoke billowing from the basement of a townhouse at 9:24am.

They rescued a man and a woman, both aged 26, who had burns and ‘multiple injuries’, along with a five-year-old child found suffering from smoke inhalation.

A police source told DailyMail the attacker had initially targeted the woman, sexually assaulting her and slashing at her throat with a knife.

Asked if Billingsley was considered a suspect, a spokeswoman for the Baltimore Police Department told DailyMail.com: ‘We can’t confirm that.’

She said of the arson incident: ‘Officers located a 26-year-old male and an adult female, suffering from multiple injuries. On the upper level of the home, fire personnel located a five-year-old child, unharmed.’

Medics arrived to the scene and transported the victims to area hospitals where the adult male and female were both listed in critical condition.

Billingsley was described on Tuesday as ‘a repeat violent offender’, and a suspect in at least one other case.

‘He will kill, and he will rape,’ said Richard Worley, the police commissioner, at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Billingsley is ‘armed and dangerous,’ and locals should stay alert, said Worley.

‘To Jason Billingsley: I hope you are watching,’ he added.

‘Every single police officer in Baltimore and the state of Maryland is out there looking for you. We will find you, and we will prosecute you to the full extent of the law. So please turn yourself in.’

Billingsley has a long criminal history, dating back to 2009 when he was arrested for robbery and assault in the second degree.

He was arrested in 2011, and again in 2013, for multiple charges to include sex offense, 2nd degree assault charges and robbery.

In 2015 he was given a 30-year prison sentence, with all but 14 years suspended, and served time at Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown.

This week, a mother was brutally beaten and carjacked in front of her home during the day with her children present – at least, according to her account. As a mother, I imagine the sheer fear that coursed through this woman’s body as she took the beating of her life, praying that someone would intervene, that her children wouldn’t be harmed, and that she would live through this awful event.

Thankfully, this mother lived to tell her story, where most people share their lives – on social media. This story, unfortunately, is far too typical in major cities across this country, but what makes this one particularly newsworthy is who this victim is.

The mother in question is Vice Chair of Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party and former defund the police advocate Shivanthi Sathanandan. Ms. Sathanandan is well known for her social media activity, and her post this week that described this terrifying event received quite an interesting reaction from those in Minneapolis with a long memory.

Look at my face!

This week, Vice Chair of Minnesota’s DFL Party, Shivanthi Sathanandan, says she was carjacked and brutally beaten outside her house. After fighting off her attackers and receiving aid, she took to her Facebook page to describe what happened to her, share an image of her bloodied face, and demand stricter crime policies.

Ms. Sathanandan wrote:

“This is the face of a mother who just had the sh– beaten out of her. A mother whose only thought was, ‘let me run far enough and fight hard enough so that my kids have a chance to get away.’”

Luckily, her children were not physically harmed; it’s a shame there wasn’t a more substantial police presence in the area to deter such a horrific act.

She continues:

“These men knew what they were doing. I have NO DOUBT they have done this before. Yet they are still on OUR STREETS.”

Ms. Sathanandan is probably correct in her assumption that these men were repeat offenders; unfortunately, there isn’t much to deter criminals from continuing their destructive behavior. Dare I say, some have managed to incentivize criminal behavior.

She strongly proclaimed:

“These criminals will not win. We need to take back our city.”

Well-written words, enough to make you feel inspired. I hate to break it to you, Ms. Sathanandan; people like you gave your city to the criminals.

Facebook memories

I have Facebook mainly so that family members can see pictures of my kids and so that I can keep in touch with my old military buds. One of the best features of the social media site is its ability to remind you about past posts you’ve made known simply as ‘Memories.’

If only Ms. Sathanandan paid closer attention to her Facebook Memories, maybe she wouldn’t be getting dragged so hard on the platform.

Two weeks after the death of George Floyd, Ms. Sathanandan posted:

“We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department.”

Yikes, I feel that phrase was not going through her mind as the thugs beat her mercilessly in the street.

She wrote around this same period of her disdain for police:

“It’s time to build a new infrastructure that works for ALL communities.”

Do you mean to tell me there weren’t social workers ready to stop the animals from bloodying your face in front of your babies? It’s been three years since Mr. Floyd was killed, and that new infrastructure is still not running yet?

In 2020, Ms. Sathanandan reposted a Star Tribune article titled ‘Minneapolis Public Schools terminates contract with Police Department over George Floyd’s death’ where she wrote:

“Thank you, Minneapolis School Board Members, for getting this done! Exactly as it should be – MPD should have no place in our children’s schools.”

I will go out on a limb and guess that her attackers were young men, maybe even teenagers. It’s a shame there wasn’t a police presence in their schools to try to redirect them toward a better life path that didn’t result in broken bones and a jacked car.

We all remember

I’ll give Ms. Sathanandan credit; she did thank the police officers who came to her aid in her time of need. But one key element was missing from her dramatic, overly capitalized Facebook post – an apology to those police officers.

An apology for demanding their dismantling, for degrading their profession, and for all the mothers out there who have suffered in her city due to her party’s terrible pro-criminal policies.

In her dramatic post, she wrote:

“You could have been reading the obituary for me and my children today. But instead I’m here. To write this.”

Lucky you. Since 2020, there have been 258 homicides in your city.

That’s 258 obituaries, 258 souls who aren’t able to opine on Facebook about their terrifying experience.

Ms. Sathanandan is great at demanding things, such as this demand this week:

“REMEMBER ME when you are thinking about supporting letting juveniles and young people out of custody to roam our streets instead of HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.”

So very privileged

Before the blood, bruises, broken bones, and psychological trauma that she just endured, Ms. Sathanandan had scolded her party for backing down from language associated with defunding the police.

She once wrote:

“Democratic Activist and Party Leader Friends, please reconsider arguing that the words being used to describe the change that needs to happen in Minneapolis are going to cause us to “lose elections.” I don’t care what color ally you are – your privilege is showing.”

You want to talk about privilege, the fact that someone can spit in the face of law enforcement, then blast the need for stricter criminal enforcement policies after being one of the lucky to survive a criminal attack. She wrote this week that in addition to the broken bones, she has “rage.”

Join the club lady with all the other victims of senseless and preventable crime.

Her party Chairman, Ken Martin, wrote:

“It is my sincere hope that the people who assaulted Shivanthi are quickly brought to justice and face punishment commensurate with the severity of their crimes.”

That’s my hope, too, and if people like you and Shivanthi can stay out of the way, maybe that might happen for her and all the other deserving out there.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.

A good Samaritan was beaten to a pulp with a wooden bat when he stepped in to stop his alleged assailant from abusing a dog.
