Update: DJ Tim Westwood interviewed by police for a fourth time in s3xual misconduct probe

British DJ and TV presenter, Tim Westwood has been interviewed for a fourth time under police caution following sexual misconduct allegations.

The 66-year-old former BBC Radio 1 DJ, who stepped down from his show on Capital Xtra last year, has previously strongly denied any wrongdoing.

The Metropolitan Police said officers are investigating accusations of offences alleged to have happened between 1982 and 2016. The force did not name the hip-hop DJ and radio presenter in their statement.

In a statement on Thursday, the force said: ‘Police are investigating a number of reports relating to allegations of non-recent sexual offences allegedly committed by a man.

‘The offences are alleged to have occurred in London between 1982 and 2016.’

The statement said a man had been interviewed under caution four times between March 15 and October 25 this year, adding that no arrest had been made.

The BBC started an external inquiry in 2022 into what was known about Westwood’s conduct during his time at the corporation.

Westwood began his career on local radio before joining Capital Radio in London.

He then joined the BBC and left Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra in 2013 after nearly 20 years. Westwood hosted a regular Saturday show on Capital Xtra.

He was referred to as ‘The Big Dawg’ before leaving the company last year after seven women made accusations of sexual misconduct and predatory behaviour in a joint investigation between the Guardian and the BBC.

A statement from a representative of Westwood, released in 2022, said: ‘Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

‘In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially.

‘Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.’ His representatives have been contacted for further comment.

Former BBC DJ Tim Westwood is set to perform his gig in months despite facing allegations of abusing ten women including having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Westwood, 65, will appear at a party for The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Nigeria, where he will be joined by British rapper Tion Wayne.

The ex-Radio 1 DJ is mired in allegations of abusing ten women during his prolific career in the music industry, The Sun reports. But Westwood strongly maintains his innocence.

Reacting online, One man tweeted: ‘The promoters who booked Tim Westwood to DJ in Nigeria this weekend, you have no shame.

‘All the allegations against him specifically to do with young Black girls and you still paid him money to come to Nigeria??’

Another person added: ‘Not the first time either. He was on my flight back from Lagos to London in July 2022…’

In July, the BBC said it had received six complaints against Westwood, including one that was referred to police, despite director-general Tim Davie previously saying he had seen ‘no evidence of complaints’.

Mr. Davie launched an internal audit, reporting to the BBC board’s senior independent director, Sir Nicholas Serota.

A statement from a representative of Westwood in April said: ‘Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

‘In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially.

‘Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.’

The DJ, who is the son of Bill Westwood, the former Anglican bishop of Peterborough – who died in 1999, began his career on local radio before joining Capital Radio in London.

He was later given his own show by BBC Radio 1. He left Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra in 2013 after nearly 20 years and returned to Capital Xtra to host a regular show on Saturday nights, where he was referred to as ‘The Big Dawg’.

Tim Westwood stepped down from his Capital Xtra show in April, when the claims came to light.

Another 10 women accuse Tim Westwood of sexual misconduct with one alleging he had sex with her when she was 14

Hip-hop DJ, Tim Westwood is facing fresh allegations of sexual misconduct from ten more women with one alleging he had sex with her when she was 14.

The teenager, who uses the pseudonym Esther, said Westwood, now 64, was in his 30s when they had sex for the first time, the BBC and Guardian, who have been investigating the ex-Radio 1 presenter, have reported.

Her testimony forms part of a joint Guardian/BBC investigation that will raise fresh questions over the behaviour of the former Radio 1 DJ.

The 10, all black women, spoke to the Guardian and BBC after the news organisations published a story in April in which Westwood was accused of opportunistic and predatory sexual behaviour.

That investigation alleged Westwood abused his position in the music industry to take advantage of seven women in their late teens or early 20s.

The outlets claimed that, aside from two friends, the women who have now come forward are not known to each other and have never met.

None of the 10 reported the incidents to the police and all but one have asked to remain anonymous.

The BBC, where Westwood worked as a presenter for 20 years, subsequently revealed it had received six complaints against him, including one referred to police.

Its director-general, Tim Davie, said earlier this week the corporation is undertaking a “full deep dive” and plans to deliver a report on the complaints within the next two weeks.

The internal audit will report to the BBC board’s senior independent director, Sir Nicholas Serota.

In a statement in April, Westwood “strongly” denied any wrongdoing.

The statement from a representative of Westwood to the PA news agency said: “Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

“In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially.

“Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”

Multiple black women accuse popular DJ, Tim Westwood of sexual misconduct?

Celebrity UK based DJ, Tim Westwood has been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple Black women, according to new reports.

The Guardian and BBC reported Tuesday April 26, that three women have claimed they were victims of ‘opportunistic and predatory’ sexual behaviour by the DJ, while four others have alleged they were groped by him at events.

Westwood, 64, is best known for his freestyling studio sessions that have featured super star singers and rappers from all over the world.

The women, who are all Black, were in their late teens or early 20s when they claim the incidents took place, with the earliest incident reportedly occurring in 1992 while the most recent happened in 2017. They share their stories in a BBC Three documentary, Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power, which is due to air on BBC Three on Tuesday night, April 26.

They claim Westwood abused his position in the music industry to exploit them.

One victim, who was 19 at the time of Westwood’s alleged behaviour, said the DJ exposed himself in front of her.

‘I didn’t actually see him undo his trousers,’ she told the BBC and the Guardian. ‘What alerted me to the fact that he was exposing himself was the fact that he actually tapped me to turn around to look.’

She went on to claim she was the victim of a second episode of predatory sexual behaviour.

The woman added that Westwood returned to the room naked after making himself a drink.

‘That’s when I noticed that he’s got a condom and he’s removed it [from the packet] and started putting it on,’ she said.

‘I remember him throwing it down. I remember the fact that it was yellow. Like, I remember that very vividly because I remember that was kind of when my brain also started to shut down.’

She alleged Westwood initiated sex and that she was ‘frozen’.

Another woman, who was 20 at the time of her ordeal, was allegedly invited to do work experience with Westwood. She says she travelled to London to meet him and claims that he ‘soon began touching her leg and face while he was driving’.

Westwood started to drive erratically as the woman tried to bat his hand away, which made a police officer on a motorbike pull alongside the vehicle and knock on the passenger window.

The woman claims West wood drove her to his flat even though sleeping arrangements hadn’t been discussed, she said the woman expected to stay at a hotel for her work experience.

She claims he ‘sat next to her and tried to kiss her neck and remove items of her clothing’.

‘I didn’t give him any kind of come-on. There was no flirtation,’ she told the two publications, adding that he initiated sex. ‘I’m in London alone with this man. Now if I try to get out of this, who’s to say how he’s going to react. So I just submit to it.’

‘Someone taking advantage of my naivety and lack of confidence isn’t something that I should have to carry with shame,’ one woman told the publications.

None of the women had reported their interactions to the police and all have asked to remain anonymous.

On Tuesday,, he denied all the allegations with a spokesperson  of the DJ saying the reports are completely false.

Releasing a statement to MailOnline, he said: ‘I can categorically say that I have never had an inappropriate relationship with anyone under the age of 18.

‘I am aware of attempts by anonymous sources to make fabricated allegations online. I can confirm that such allegations are false and without any foundation.’

The women decided to come forward with their stories after anonymous allegations of inappropriate behaviour about Westwood circulated on social media back in June 2020.

Westwood joined BBC Radio 1 in 1994 to host the first national rap show in the UK.

At the BBC, he also hosted the weekday drive time show for 1Xtra from September 2009 until he was replaced by Charlie Sloth in September 2012.

After leaving the show, Westwood continued his Saturday night Rap Show until it was announced he was leaving the BBC in 2013 after 20 years.

The Guardian indicates that three out of the seven women have accused the DJ of sexual behaviour that is “opportunistic and predatory.”

The other four have alleged that the DJ groped them at events.

These revelations were made public through a joint inquiry by the Guardian and the BBC, focused on the DJ.

The allegations against Tim goes as far back as 1992 and the most recent is in 2017.

One of the women said: “Someone taking advantage of my naivety and lack of confidence isn’t something that I should have to carry with shame.”

The seven women who spoke to the BBC are all black.

According to two of the women, who were aspiring to start a career in the industry, they agreed to meet the DJ in London to discuss music. They accuse the DJ of driving them to a flat and initiating unwanted and unexpected sex. One was 19 at the time, while Westwood was 53.

Another woman, then a member of an R&B group, said she met Tim when she was 17 and the DJ was in his mid-30s. She says the DJ subjected her to unwanted oral sex after agreeing to meet him.

The women who accused him of groping said the DJ touched their bottoms or breasts as they posed for photographs with him at different events where he was performing.

The BBC and the Guardian changed the names of the women, to protect their identities. The media outlets indicated the women do not know each other. Some of them still work in the music industry and fear repercussions, according to the BBC and the Guardian.

Allegations about Westwood’s behaviour toward young black women have circulated on social media for some time. In 2020, Westwood issued a statement to the Mail Online hitting out at the “fabricated allegations” and said they were false and without foundation.

For the first time, after these investigations, there have been detailed accusations against the DJ, which he debunks.
