Two teachers at a school in Georgia are facing s3xual misconduct charges involving the same alleged victim.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the arrest of Sherri Delle Mauldin, 60, on charges of improper sexual contact by an employee, agent, or foster parent, aggravated child molestation and statutory r@pe.
Mauldin allegedly committed these offenses while she was a teacher at Nathaniel Greene Academy, a Christian, K-12 college preparatory school in Siloam, approximately 80 miles east of Atlanta.
That arrest comes just a few days after another former teacher at Nathaniel Greene Academy was arrested and charged with improper s3xual contact for actions allegedly involving the same student, a GBI spokesperson tells PEOPLE.
The GBI alleged that an investigation launched into Bonnie Elizabeth Brown, 25, in June 2024 “confirmed that Brown had engaged in s3xual contact with a student while employed as a teacher.”
At the time of her arrest, Brown was teaching at a preschool, according to Ashley Mitchell, the lawyer for the alleged victim.
Mitchell said that the alleged victim was a male under the age of 16 at the time of the offenses and said: “There was physical contact at the school and outside the school.”
The alleged victim also released a statement to PEOPLE through Mitchell.
“I am relieved that these two women have been arrested and the crimes are being fully investigated,” the alleged victim said. “These women took advantage of their positions as my teachers. My school did not protect me as a child. I see that now, and I hope that these arrests will protect our community and children in it.”
The GBI said that both women were booked into the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Jail and that both investigations are still ongoing.
