“They’ve never seen me as one of their own” Phyna speaks about reason for dropping her family surname

Phyna, the one-time winner of the Big Brother Naija reality show, has shared more details about her estrangement from her family.

The actress announced weeks ago that she was dropping her family name. The announcement was not the first time she has publicly had issues with her family.

Months after she won the Big Brother Naija, her father granted an interview, accusing her of forgetting them. Phyna responded, accusing her family of expecting too much from her.

Speaking now on why she chose to drop her surname, Phyna said it is just her way of accepting what has always been the reality, that her family has never seen her as one of their own.

She added that no family member has reached out to her since she announced plans to drop her surname.

She also said that she has been doing life alone for so long and she has been coping well, so dropping her surname was just her way of making it official.
