Thierry Henry Names Victor Osimhen as Top Target for Barcelona
Former Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has identified Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as one of three key players that FC Barcelona should consider recruiting. Currently, Osimhen plays for Galatasaray in Turkey, having completed a permanent transfer last summer.
In the last season, the 27-year-old played a vital role in leading Galatasaray to a domestic double. Throughout the current campaign, he has recorded 15 goals and five assists in 23 appearances across all competitions.
Henry emphasized Barcelona’s need for established goal-scorers, listing Osimhen alongside Harry Kane and Erling Haaland as potential targets. He expressed this sentiment in an interview with Sport, stating, “Barcelona need a real number 9. A top-level striker.”
Henry underscored the importance of proven finishers, remarking, “I am referring to formidable scorers such as Victor Osimhen, Erling Haaland or Harry Kane. Proven finishers, not prospects.”
He also highlighted the need for efficiency in front of goal, particularly when talented players like Lamine Yamal are creating opportunities. “When you have a talent like Lamine Yamal, who makes passes like that, you have to score. It’s simple. At this level, one chance is enough,” he added.
